Replacing Your HVAC System: A Couple Tips

Choosing the proper HVAC system is not rocket science. However, it’s an important purchase that most homeowners don’t have to perform on a regular basis. Therefore, most people are unfamiliar with the different types of systems, as well as price ranges, efficiencies, and maintenance schedules. Thank goodness for Coolray, as we are here to help.

Here are a couple things you should do before you call us to schedule an expert appointment, so you’re prepared in advance to have an informed discussion with our master techs. We, of course, will lead you through the process, giving you our best advice, but it’s always more fun to be better informed before talking with someone about topics you don’t know much about.

  1. Review the HVAC system types on our website.
HVAC systems include split systems, hybrid heat split systems, duct-free split systems, packaged systems, geothermal systems, etc.

HGTV also has an informative page with videos that are worth your time.

Once you’ve reviewed this information, you’ll know more than most about the system types, and you can parlay that into becoming the trusted neighborhood HVAC expert (unless your neighborhood has a member of the Coolray team in it; we all know that wouldn’t be a fair debate).

And when our master technician arrives promptly for your meeting at the time we promised, you can have lively, informed discussions about such things as SEER rating, tonnage, geothermal systems, and heat pumps.

  2. Make the smart choice and pair your new system with a smart thermostat.
Now would be the time to invest in automating the operation of your heating and cooling system. Gone are the days where you had to have a degree in programming and a ton of patience standing around clicking on buttons to try to “program” your system, not to mention resetting the dreaded blinking clock.

It’s easier today than ever, and the best part is that you can save energy, aka money, by using one of these new technologies. Why not save money and aggravation? Why use yesterday’s obsolete technology? Just don’t do it. Instead, save money and time and impress your friends with a new smart thermostat.

  3. Maintenance plans are worth the money and you should get one when you get your new unit.
Would you buy a car and never change the oil? Of course not. But there are some “experts” out there that don’t recommend maintenance plans. They obviously must not live in our reality. Again, this is a penny-wise and pound-foolish mistake to not get a plan.

The maintenance agreements are not self-serving for us at Coolray: They are customer-serving.

We are in the service business and we want to keep your units as trouble-free as possible, so you will recommend us to family and friends. Look at a service plan as an investment in peace-of-mind. If you’re happy, we’re happy.
