Your Best Picks for Atlanta’s Festival Season

Atlanta is an incredibly active, vibrant city with so much for families to see and do, and at no time is that more apparent than in the spring. This time of year, outdoor festivals are popping everywhere in the city, so there’s just no excuse for staying indoors and staring at your phone all weekend.

Here are our favorite festivals coming up this spring in the ATL:

Atlanta Dogwood Festival - April 7-9

Now in its 79th year, the Atlanta Dogwood Festival is more than a celebration of Atlanta’s favorite native flowering tree. It’s an event that fills Piedmont Park with food booths, family activities, live music, arts and crafts. Dog lovers should check out the U.S. Disc Dog Southern Nationals, which take place during the festival.

Georgia Renaissance Festival - April 15 - June 4

Grab your family and head back to the middle ages for a rollicking good time. Watch jousting, acrobats and musical performances. Chomp on a turkey leg or shop for craft items at the 32-acre Artisans Market. Ticket prices at the gate are $22 for adults and children are $10. Tip: you can save a few bucks by ordering your tickets online.

Shaky Knees Music Festival - May 12-14

If you’re looking for a place to enjoy live music and soak up the atmosphere, check out the Shaky Knees Music Festival. Join friends in Central Park in Old Fourth Ward for a musical lineup of more than 30 bands including Cage the Elephant, LCD Soundsystem, Pixies, Shoveles and Rope, X Ambassadors, The Shins, Ryan Adams, and Third Eye Blind. And families will enjoy the daily ‘songs for kids’ sets from a variety of artists throughout the weekend.

Sweet Auburn SpringFest May 13-14

With a mile-and-a-half of rides, live music, food, and games, it's no surprise that this is the largest free outdoor festival in the Southeast. If your goal is family fun, it’s all here in the Sweet Auburn district of Atlanta.

Atlanta Food & Wine Festival - June 1-4

Eat, drink, and be merry- Southern style. The Atlanta Food & Wine Festival in Midtown offers up some of Atlanta’s tastiest treats with booths from more than 250 area restaurants. There are cooking classes, too, where you can learn from the best chefs in the city.

Hey, Batter, Batter!

Speaking of outdoor fun in the spring, this is also the season for peanuts, popcorn and Crackerjack. Baseball season is in full “swing” and there’s no better time than now to cheer on the Gwinnett Braves at Coolray Field. This year Coolray and The Gwinnett Braves are bringing back “Triple Play Thursday”. Get 4 Tickets, 4 Hot Dogs and 4 Drinks for just $40. Just Go to the ticket section of the G Braves website, click on any Thursday Game, and get your Coolray Triple Play Thursday deal!
