Coolray Heating & Cooling is Going “Green”

MARIETTA, GA, March 24, 2009 – In these uncertain economic times, Ken Haines, President of Coolray Heating and Cooling, shows us the advantages of going "green” and how this can help the environment and save us money.  According to the EPA, geothermal systems are the most environmentally friendly way to heat and cool your home. These systems emit no carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide or other greenhouse gasses, which are considered major contributors to environmental air pollution.

The new geothermal heating and cooling systems that Coolray offers will increase the level of comfort in our homes while reducing our heating, cooling and hot water costs by 60%. Geothermal systems operate more efficiently than other ordinary heating and cooling systems. Because geothermal systems do not burn fossil fuels to make heat, they provide three to four units of energy for every one unit used to power the system. Where a fossil fuel furnace may be 78-90 percent efficient, a geothermal heat pump is about 400 percent efficient. Combining stored earth energy with safe electrical power, no other furnace, air conditioner or heat pump comes close to the efficiencies of geothermal energy.

A geothermal system works by utilizing the earth’s own natural resources. During the winter, heat is taken out of the earth and transferred to your house and during the summer heat from your house in transferred back to the earth. This system does not use fossil fuels but rather utilizes a renewable source of energy – the earth and so has no greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, the by-product of this system is something we use everyday – hot water!

According to Haines, homeowners can benefit not only from huge utility cost savings but also in comfort and reliability. Geothermal systems provide comfortable air all year long and eliminate hot and cold spots in your home as well as deliver dehumidified air. They do not require noisy outdoor units that can disturb your peaceful surroundings or create an unsightly addition to your home’s appearance. Because they do not require outdoor units they are also not subjected to wear and tear caused by rain, snow, ice, debris, extreme temperatures or vandalism. Geothermal units have proven to be very reliable and require less maintenance.

Right now through the new Federal Stimulus Package you are eligible for a 30% (no limit) tax credit when you install a new geothermal heat pump. Haines states, “There is never a better time to "go green” and save money.” With these Federal and State incentives you can install a new system and in most cases the tax incentives will pay for the installation of the loop on a geothermal heat pump. So whether homeowners make their purchases to reduce their carbon footprints or to enjoy the savings on their energy bills, they get the best of both worlds.
